My SIP
I propose a prototype for a mecha themed 2D fighting game with battle damage mechanics that affect gameplay. This is innovative because it gives a dynamic gameplay loop that changes moves based on damage and forces the player to find different ways to fight.
Innovation Claim
Fighting games feature characters from martial arts, anime, superheroes, or popular franchises. Mecha is a popular genre that has yet to be featured in fighting games. It offers unique opportunities for gameplay and a theme that has yet to be utilized. In the game industry overall there is a lack of games focusing on robots and so it is a niche that is underutilized.

How its being made
For this project I've had a pipeline of starting in Photoshop with a rough sketch, then finishing and animating sprites in Aseprite. For the prototype I've been using Construct 3 and utilizing the event sheet system for the damage mechanic. Currently the damage system is partially functional and able to cycle through 2 damage states.

Target Audience
This game would be targeted towards fighting game, casual gamers, and mecha genre enthusiasts.
Gen A, Gen Z, Millenials.
